Anti-Bullying in Secondary Schools

Updated: May 28, 2020

We created 2 murals for an anti-bullying campaign at 2 secondary schools in Barbados. They were created for The Grantley Adams Memorial Secondary School and Frederick Smith Secondary School.

The idea for the murals came from a drawing competition that both schools participated in. The winning drawings from each school were then interpreted into a mural that was painted on a designated wall on the school grounds.

The Grantley Adams Memorial Secondary School

This mural was completed between August 1st and 16th, 2017. We had multiple meetings with the company who were commissioning us to complete this mural as well as the one at Frederick Smith Secondary school.

A Little Concerned

The main worry with both murals was whether or not we would be able to complete both murals before the school term starts in September. After we started this mural those doubts were quickly erased seeing as we were well ahead of schedule. Whenever the rep would come and visit the site to see how things were coming along and if we needed anything, he was pleasantly surprised at how fast we were moving.

(After the mural was created there was a small opening ceremony where we were invited to attend)

Frederick Smith Secondary School

This mural was completed between August 17th and September 1st, 2017. The second worry with this mural was the lighting. Based on the location of the wall that we were painting on, we had to get an earlier start to the days that we worked on and take breaks during the times when the sun was casting shadows onto the wall.

While this wall had a different challenge than our previous murals it was also fun because it had one of the biggest figures we would have done up to date.
