#FutureSPACES pt.12 - Tipping the Scales

Between February 26th and March 2nd, we finished painted the objects on the plates of the scale.

Rainy Days

There were a few days through this whole process where the rain fell but the most memorable would have to be when we were painting the objects on the plates of the scale.

On February 19th when the base color on one of the building was being put down the rain started to fall. As the rain gathered at the top of the wall and started to run, we all looked at each other like, no, not now.

Once the water started to run we immediately stopped painting and just waited it out.

Most of the time when the rain fell, it only fell for a few minutes and not very hard, and this time was the same. We stood on that scaffolding and waited it out seeing as we didn't think it would take to long.

We stay semi-dry from the rain by just being under the platform of the scaffolding above us.

Continuing On

At that point in painting all that was left to do was to add the details. We each took turns painting different objects on each scale just so our styles of painting would be blended in the overall mural. We also started to add the chains, the other gold details on to the plates and the aged spots in the background on March 3rd.

We ran out of the back ground color and had to re mix it multiple time but that worked out since we had to add age to the stamp's background. It allowed for an easier blending process since we mixed such similar colors but since the colors were slightly different it added to the background aging without being to harsh. And then we added additional age spots on top in varying degrees of size, shape and hue.
