#FutureSPACES pt.1 - Where It All Started

In October 2019 some of our previous clients as well as social media made us aware of a mural competition that was being held for the We Gathering Barbados 2020 celebrations.

The Sketch Dilemma

We decided to participate right away and had a few meetings about different conceptual ideas for the sketch and the different elements and imagery that we wanted to include.

At the time we were already in the process of completing the pieces for The Grantley Adams International Airport and we were unable to get as much time as we wanted to work on a sketch to submit.

But we made it happen even though we had to rush home from painting the pieces for the airport, just so we could submit our sketch for the competition on time.

Waiting To Hear Back

After submitting the sketch through the proper channels we were not that thrilled. We honestly did not expect to get far with the sketch that we submitted because we knew we could have done better but we did the best we could within the time we had because of prior jobs.

A couple of days after submitting the sketch, we were made aware that the deadline was extended.

After accepting that there was nothing that we could do we went on to finish all our pre-scheduled jobs and continued on with life in general.

The Call

When we received the call that we were 1 of 2 finalists in the competition and that we were supposed to have a meeting in the following days with the panel of judges, we were shocked, to say the least, but super excited at the same time. We stayed on the phone for half an hour talking excitedly about the whole process so far and about the meeting to come.
