Paradise Point - Apt 2 & 3B

Updated: Jun 8, 2020

Employing various artists with unique styles the rooms at Paradise Point Airbnb, encompass their theme.

Apt 2 -

I (Alanis Forde) was contacted by the owner of Paradise Point to create a floral mural in 2019. Shona was looking to create unique air BnB’s that would be attractive to locals and tourists alike. She wanted to have different local artists to paint a statement piece in each bedroom.

In this case, she wanted the bedroom, living space, and kitchen backsplash to be painted. The theme in this apartment was floral with emphasis on the color scheme of turquoise and pinks. These murals were painted by Alanis, taking 3 days each.

Apt 3B -

Inspiration

Given the opportunity to work on a room, I (Anna Gibson) was tasked with creating a market scene living within the silhouette of a wrapped woman’s head.

Paradise Point took inspiration from a previous painting I created, mixing faces and scenery, which led to the inspiration behind this mural. It was to be a female-driven market scene reminiscent of the older Barbadian market where one could be seen holding and balancing straw woven baskets and women with wrapped heads.

The process

In a room filled with unfinished construction I began the mapping out and painting process, having fun going back and forth with the different colored vegetables and women in the scene.
