On February 22nd, 2020 we painted the fastest mural we have done to date. With 3 us working on a mural the execution time is usually a lot shorter than our clients expect.
The Conversation
At the beginning of February, we found out about a lady in Hastings that wanted to have a mural done and she was reaching out to artist through a third party. through a conversation at an art show while we were catching up with another artist.
Two days later, Akilah was contacted by the third party. Explaining that we were about to start on the mural for the General Post Office in Bridgetown, Akilah asked for more information before we could accept the job. The third party said that she understood and would let the client explain the specifics of what she wanted.
Hired
One day later, Akilah was contacted by the client and received all of the specifics. After hearing everything the client had to say we decided to take the job. Based on what was explained we estimated that we would be able to finish the job in 2 days.
On February 15th, Akilah had a site visit to examine the wall and to get some measurements. in the week after the site visit, we worked on some sketches for the wall and sent them off to the client for her feedback. After selecting the appropriate sketch, we set a date to go and start painting for the following weekend.
Inspiration
The client was going for a floral scene with hidden elements such as fairies.The entire inside of the house was inspired by fairies. The colors used to paint the walls, the structures of the doors and closets, and the decorations.
She wanted the mural not only to reflect the fairy theme but she wanted it to assist with beautifying the neighborhood since there was not a lot of plant life going on.
Happy Client
After some back and forth about the sketch we reached a result that the client was happy with. At the end of day 3, the client and her family were so happy, they said the final product had the wow factor that they were looking for and they thanked us repeatedly.
